I thought you'd be interested in seeing this video. Modou Diouf is leading us in a tune called Tyzen. We are all playing different parts. I'm playing the chol which is one of the bass accompaniments though I know the other parts too as it's one of my favourite tunes!
After Drum Camp I spent two lovely days with a friend in Essex then went to Whistable to stay with my preggers daughter and her hubbie.
We had such a wonderful time and there are lots of photos over at Facebook
We visited an absolutely amazing place called The Grotto at Margate - the actual town seemed like the backend of nowhere - ghastly place but the Grotto was extraordinary - rumoured to be 2,000 years old - certainly no Christian influences or images
We spent the rest of the time enjoying ourselves with their friends and going to the beach and the local Whitstable Regatta
EVEN MORE PHOTOS CLICK HA HA HA!!
For those who can't be bothered to click the links here's just one for fun:
Hi there folks - Efx is up and running thanks to Chica sorting out some banned IP addresses. Personally I've been double posting here for months but at least it's working again.
Thanks Chica xxx
I'd suggest everyone one does a back up here. If anyone doesn't know how it's simple.
After you've posted your Efx entry (not in the edit/entry control panel box) highlight and "copy" the whole entry, come to your Vox and press CREATE. "Paste" the whole entry in and give it a title. Even photos and links will copy over - so you don't have to upload everything again! It really is easy and means you have a back up - or vice versa to Efx might work too but I usually post first at Efx and copy to here.
Here are a few photos from Drum Camp - it's a wonderful summer school with about 400 participants. There's a choice of different workshops mornings and afternoons up to 4 in total. I did djembe and sabar and in the evening great entertainment.
It was my fourth time so I know a lot of the people.
After Drum Camp I spent two days with an old friend who lives in a lovely place in a studio. Here's a little clip of the nearby Osea Island and me in her place at the piano.
Me at my friend's amazing place - it was built in the 60s and has glass all around and a separate photographic studio and darkrooms.
I'm now in Whitstable, Kent with my daughter and her husband and here's a link to photos of the amazing beach huts and my daughter etc.
Photos from Whitstable
Keep well all xx
Today I want to get the laundry done.
The kids have to:
- clean their rooms
- clean the bunny cage
- read (son has a summer reading list)
After all that then we can go pick up a few things at the store.
I don't think we'll get to swim today. That is making them grouchy. But hey, they have to get these things done sometime! :)
/mean mom out!
We went to see the sneak preview tonight. I enjoyed the movie, but it made me sad. I was a Heath Ledger fan, since 10 Things I Hate About You. His smile and sparkle in his eyes always caught me off guard and made me smile back to the screen. His performance in this movie was beyond any performance I've ever seen him give. If you're in any way a fan of this genre of movie, I think you will enjoy the film.
That's what it's called when an infant dies of multitudinous false starts. When they can't feed or breath on their own or keep their temperature regulated by themselves, or their heart just won't catch a regular beat.
In many ways, that's what Efx2 has gone through, though much slower than usually happens, but I started thinking about the false starts, the hopeful signs that it was starting to gain momentum, only to be knocked down again by some outside force.
But it was loved, and it's parents are loved, and those of us, honorary aunts and uncles, are saddened by it's coma-like condition. It seems like maybe the organ failure has finally started and it's beyond hope of rescue, this time.
Meanwhile, a little prayer for Keith and his family. I hope they are actually okay and just busy with Life, instead of the horrors that have crossed my mind. That's really the worst part- not knowing what happened.
You can find me here on Vox, though this is my private blog, and at LiveJournal, under the name Treasa- simplicity has it's uses. I don't blog much these days, but I do read. I would post links if I knew how. I also still technically have a blogger site, but I can't remember how to get into it.
IF Efx2 comes back, I'll return, just as I did when ModBlog went through it's death throes, but I've been here before and it feels the same this time, to me. Meanwhile, I guess I'll just keep trying to find those I care about that haven't already migrated here.
Just a quick line to say I've left Drum Camp and am staying with a friend in the middle of nowhere. Moon Palace is parked in her garden which is lovely and peaceful.
I've taken some good photos and video clips which I'll put up in the next few days.
My magic mobile broadband dongle has been useless as there's been no mobile broadband signal on this side of the country so I'm doing this on my friend's computer!
See you soon!

There are many of our "Family" that are scattered throughout cyberspace. Many are here at Vox ... but there are more spread out everywhere and would like to be in touch with other EFXers, but have no way to find them,
I started another blog-group on Blogspot (blogger) http://efx2-mbnomads.blogspot.com/ where I will list the various blogs we have in other places (MySpace, Facebook, Tagged, Vox, Blogspot, Wordpress, etc) ... so pls go there and leave me your list.
I just found out that I can use the codes we used for our layouts on EFX2 (ok ... so I'm a little slow in finding this out ... lol) ... so I will try in the next few weeks to utilize a scrolling link system for each person with more than one link ... making it easier to find them.
Of course ... I've also linked this group too ... :D
